Find and fix safety and health issues on your PC now.
Windows Live Safety Center gives you the option to run a complete scan that includes protection, clean up, and tune up scans, or a quick scan that checks just for malicious software.
Choose the complete scan if:
·You currently don’t have antivirus software installed on your computer.
·You’re using Windows Live Safety Center for the first time.
·It’s been more than a month since you last scanned your computer (or you don’t know when your computer was last scanned).
·You want to customize the virus scan to check only specific files and folders on your PC.
How long the complete scan takes will depend on your computer’s speed, the amount of memory it has, which scans you chose, and how many issues Windows Live Safety Center finds. You might want to run this when you can close all browser windows and let your computer be for a while.
Choose the quick scan if:
·You’ve run a complete scan on your computer recently.
·You’re concerned your computer might have a virus, spyware, or other unwanted software.
The quick scan only checks the most commonly infected areas of your computer’s memory for viruses, spyware, Trojans, and worms. It won’t evaluate other clean up or tune up issues on your computer.
Get green, then stay green
Windows Live Safety Center can evaluate the current health status of your computer and fix immediate issues, but it cannot protect your computer from threats or problems between scans.
